How To Use Sections with Different Templates

Did you know that you can have more templates on your site? You can have another template for every section of your site. In this tutorial we will show you how to assign different templates to your site.

To begin we need 3 templates and 3 sections in your main menu. Of course you can have as many sections as you want. We will name the templates Blue, Red and Green. The sections will be Home, News and Articles. It’s a good option to have the same template with different color scheme.

Login in to your administrator area.

Go to Site –> Template Manager –> Site Templates. You will see here a list with your templates. (About how to install templates see our tutorial)

We want to make the Blue template default. Click the radio button on the left of the Blue template. On the top click “Default“. This template will be the default template. When a user will enter your site will see the Blue template. (www.yourdomain.com)

Now we will assign the Red template to your News section. Click the radion button on the left of the Red template. From the top click “Assign“. You will see a list of your sections. It’s not your true sections, it’s a list with your menu items. Select from list News. Click “Save“. Now your “News” sections will show the Red template.

Now we will assign the Green template to your Articles section. Click the radion button on the left of the Green template. From the top click “Assign“. Select from list Articles. Click “Save“. Now your “Articles” sections will show the Green template.

Add to your menu “Links”. Select the radio button on the left of the Red template. Click “Assign”. From the list select “News”. Press “ctrl” and click “Links”. Now you have “News” and “Links” selected. Click “Save“. The Red template will appear on both sections (“News” and “Links”)

You may add as may template as you wish. That’s all. Have fun!
